Absolute Disgrace…

In the fourteen years I’ve been involved in the hair treatment industry I’ve never seen anything like it … a late-20’s single man taken in by the heavy print media advertising and ‘guaranteed promises’ of a certain individual operating in Sydney CBD.

Photographs of this young man (taken by his Mother) showed eyes so swollen he could not open them. Blisters around his eyes, forehead and on his scalp - all heavily oozing yellow serous fluid … he honestly looked as if he’d been doused with petrol and set alight.

What happened to him? As with the young woman I mention in my Blog ‘Consulting a trained + experienced practitioner …’ he was also given a dozen bottles Minoxidil + Retinoic acid solution and told to come back in twelve months.

No information (of course) about the risks and adverse reactions from such a potent topical solution. Remember the young woman was told (in the presence of her Mother) ‘even babies can use it …’

This solution was totally inappropriate for him because he has a pustular form of ’scarring’ (permanent) alopecia termed Folliculitis Decalvans. Applying this lotion was akin to pouring petrol on a fire.

He intends to tell his own story on my Blog but informs me that when he telephoned this charlatan to complain about his burning scalp he was told ‘there were no such side effects from using this Minoxidil’.

Those of you who know whom I’m speaking of will also know he openly says he “adds special curries” to these prescription medications - illegal to alter a prescription medication except if you are a Medical Practitioner or Registered Pharmacist.

He suffered 2nd degree chemical burns from his ordeal; parts of his forehead have been left permanently discoloured, and he now experiences a constant and chronic itching (urticaria) all over his body (as diagnosed by his Dermatologist).

I have been accused of harping on about unqualified salesmen in this industry, as well as over-dramatising the potential for fatal consequences arising from their actions. Anyone who heard this young man’s story, viewed his scalp and photographs would not think so…

I urge anyone who has had a similar experience ….PLEASE make your story known so we may put some pressure on the Department of Fair Trading and the Health Department to begin regulating this industry and run the shonks out of town.

I would like to confirm (anonymously for now) that I am the person mentioned in the above blog.

Several weeks ago I underwent a biopsy procedure on my scalp to determine whether or not I had the ‘Folliculitis Decalvens’ that Tony suspected me of having. The test results are back! I do indeed have the above scarring form of alopecia, proving Tonys initial diagnosis to be correct.

Finding Tony was for me like finding the Holy Grail. After suffering at the hands of the above mentioned charlatan, I had almost given up hope of finding somebody in the hair loss industry who could actually help me with my condition as they do seem to be few and far between. All of the so called ‘hair loss professionals’ that I have been to see have proven to be nothing more than sales people or quacks with no real qualifications, knowledge or passion for this line of work at all. Priority number one for them seems to be signing people up to their own over-priced version of a hair loss program that often, needn’t be untertaken in the first place. This shows a complete disregard for their clients welfare and to finding the actual reason for the hair loss.

As in my case, the solution given to me by the unscrupulous salesman that I dealt with, was totally innapropriate given my condition and has resulted in me experiencing some serious health issues as a result.

I am just one of the many people out there who have had the misfortune of dealing with a shonk. Fortunately I and no doubt some others too, have been lucky enough to find Tony. He is the only person that I have come across in this industry who has a genuine interest in helping people with their hair loss problems and whose knowledge on the subject of hair loss seems to be greater than all of the people that I have seen on the matter COMBINED and that includes the GP’s!

If you, like me have had a similar negative experience, please make your voices heard NOW so that this industry can at long last be regulated, so that others don’t have to go through the pain and suffering that we have and so that we can finally see the back of the shonks who rip us off.

If you are experiencing problems with hair loss, I would not hesitate for a second in recommending that you make an appointment to see Tony today. A simple, inexpensive solution to your problem could be waiting just around the corner.
